XANDER COLEMAN
NUDANCO
Northeastern University Dance Company put on two shows per year in Blackman Auditorium. Each semester, a team of lighting designers divided the dances between them and worked with their choreographer to design the lights for each number.
Blackman Auditorium had an extensive inventory including many moving lights and LEDs. Since the space was shared by many groups, often during the same week, they used a rep plot for all performances. Over the years, the plot evolved, in part due to suggestions and requests Xander had made.
Xander was recruited for the NUDANCO lighting team during his first semester, and continued to design for them every semester after that. In Fall of 2016, he took on the role of Chief Lighting Designer, after the previous Chief LD graduated, and held that position until his own graduation. This put him in charge of focusing lights, organizing the lighting team, communicating with the choreographers, coordinating with the board ops, sound design, projection design, and generally making sure that the technical end of the performance went smoothly.
